‘Good Times’ actor Johnny Brown dead at 84

Good Times actor Johnny Brown has died at the age of 84.

 His family mourned “a grievous loss” in a social media post, saying he was “torn from life.”

Johnny and daughter of Broadway actress Sharon Katherine Brown shared this on their Instagram page.

 She started the post with a picture of her father.

“Our family is devastated. Shock. Shock. Beyond the broken heart. I’m out of breath.”

: I politely request privacy at this point because it takes a minute to consider the unthinkable.

 I express my deep sorrow.

This is my mother’s 61-year-old husband, JJ, Elijah and Levi Pop-Pop’s father, George’s older brother  and Pat’s son-in-law, the extended family of Chris, Hihat, Damian and Derell..

 This is so horrific, this will never happen.

 “Shock. He was literally removed from our lives.

 “It’s not realistic for us yet. So there’s more to say, but not now. Dad was the  best. We love him very, very.”

 Fans expressed their support and condolences in the comments.

 One commenter wrote:

 A third narrator wrote, “I love you so much.”

 Another added, “I envelop you with such love.”

 Johnny has a long and outstanding career.

 He was an actor, comedian, and singer.

 Johnny appeared on the show until it was canceled in 1979.

 However, he is best known for his role as Nathan Bookman on the hit CBS show Good Times.

He has appeared in many other popular series including The Flip Wilson Show, The Jefferson, Family Matters, Sister, Sister,  Jamie Foxx Show, The Wayans Brothers, and Martin.

The deceased actor also appeared as a waiter in a restaurant car in the movie Citizen.

 His musical career began recording  in the ’60s.

 He previously traveled with Sam “The Man” Taylor since 1958.

 Johnny Brown was born in St. Petersburg, Florida in 1937. He married June Russell in 1961.

The couple had two children, Sharon and John Brown Jr.

 He  has at least one grandson.

 Her daughter Sharon’s Instagram page lists her as “Elijah’s mom.”

 According to her records, her son recently turned 18.
