LCD Soundsystem announces residency

The band will perform four gigs at Philadelphia’s Franklin Music Hall starting March 2831 and four gigs at Boston’s new Roadrunner venue starting April 35th.

These two performances will be the band’s first performances in 2022.

General reservations for 4,444 tickets for a total of 8 performances will start at 10 am on Friday, February 25, and fan reservations will also be held from 10 am on Thursday, February 24.

In November 2021, LCD Soundsystem began residency at Brooklyn Steel, where the band was due to perform 20 shows in New York City.

The news comes months after frontman James Murphy said  the band was “completely discontinued.” Their first gig since 2018 took place November 23 and saw the band cover Joy Division`s `No Love Lost` alongside tracks from across their back catalogue.

However, the band were forced to cancel the last few dates of the residency due to a surge in COVID19 cases.

LCD Soundsystem had previously told fans they wouldn`t cancel the remaining shows on their residency after much debate between the band and their team.

But they had conceded: “If enough people want to cancel, we`ll cancel the shows and refund everyone, putting you next in line as well.”

Before the gigs were cancelled, fans who didn`t feel safe attending still could get a refund for their tickets. Any possible rescheduled dates are yet to be confirmed.

In another piece of news, LCD Soundsystem has been announced as a musical guest for this weekend’s Saturday Night Live episode.

The band will perform on February 26th with host John Mulaney, the show’s former head writer.

Elsewhere, DFA Records announced their 20th anniversary party in New York  next month.
