The film producers, in fact, are currently in talks with Bill Skarsgard for the leading role, while Lily-Rose Depp could get that off the co-star.
Director Robert Eggers’ film has suffered numerous delays, but now it seems the time has finally come to kick off production.
Robert Eggers ‘ long-awaited “Nosferatu“, a remake of director Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau’s 1922 film of the same name, may have found its protagonists.
Lily-Rose Depp and Bill Skarsgård to replace Anya Taylor and Styles
As reported in March by Deadline, however, the singer of “As it was” had to abandon the project due to programming problems related to other previous commitments, while Anya seems to have had to leave the film due to too many previous work commitments starting from the animated movie dedicated to Super Mario and from Furiosa, the prequel to Mad Max: Fury road.
As for the new reinterpretation of Nosferatu, the film will tell the gothic story of an obsession between a young woman bewitched in 19th century Germany ( Depp ) and the ancient Transylvanian vampire who haunts her ( Skarsgard ), bringing with him an unspeakable horror.
A Nosferatu film from which lovers of the genre really expect a lot and which could definitively consecrate the careers of Bill and Lily-Rose, with the former having already taken part in successful films such as It – Chapter two, Anna Karenina and “The divergent “series: allegiant, while daughter Johnny Depp starred in Wolf, Silent night and The King, which also featured her (then) boyfriend Timothée Chalamet.
As for the future projects of a couple of actors, however, 2023 seems to be a rather busy year for Bill Skarsgard, who will be in John Wick 4, in the Netflix thriller Boy kills world, and in the reboot of “The Crow” by director Rupert Sanders.
Lily Depp’s programs, on the other hand, are still shrouded in mystery even if it is thought that the 23-year-old could be busy filming the second season of “The idol“, the new HBO series coming this fall where we will see her alongside “The Weeknd.”
