Ian Alexander Jr., son of actress and director Regina King, has committed suicide, her spokesperson told CNN on Saturday.
He was 26 years old. “The death of Young suffered the deepest trauma to our family. He is a bright light who cares deeply about the happiness of others. My family asks for respect during this private time.”
It was served by her agent at King. Alexander was a musician and DJ. According to his Instagram page, he performed as Desduné.
He released his new single “Green Eyes” on January 7th and was due to perform in Los Angeles later this month. He is King’s only son, shared with her ex-husband producer Ian Alexander Sr.
King’s son paid tribute to his mother on her birthday last year.

In a 2011 CNN interview, King spoke of his deep love for his son.

“I’m worried because my son is an amazing young man and it took me a while to become a mother and realize how great her mother is,” King said. “You don’t know what unconditional love is. You can say you know, but you don’t know what it is if you don’t have children. But when you experience it, you are most proud. So this is the biggest part for me to become Jan’s mother
