Three climbers fell above Zinal in the canton of Valais on Tuesday. 

Two Belgians and one French woman died in the accident.

The mountaineers died after fall while heading towards the Tête de Milon above Zinal.

This was announced by the Valais cantonal police on Tuesday.

The five-person group left the Arpitettaz hut, where they had spent the night, around 4:50 am.

The group split into two rope teams, a three-person team and a two-person team.

On the Crête de Milon, the three-person team crashed just below the summit at an altitude of about 3400 meters.

The team of two that followed immediately notified the Arpitettaz hut and the rescue workers.

Mountaineers died: Rescue workers could only determine the death of the climbers

An Air Zermatt helicopter and an Air – Glacier machine were quickly on site, the police wrote.

The crews could only have ascertained the deaths of the casualties and evacuated the following rope team.

The deceased are two Belgian men aged 31 and a 28-year-old French woman.

The groups, which were well equipped, were traveling without a mountain guide, the police continued.
