In his autobiography, Tom Felton, who played the character of Draco Malfoy, spoke of a period of deep depression and the role of Emma Watson in his recovery.

Tom Felton opened up about his addiction to alcohol
Although Felton has never caused a scandal during these years, the actor, now 35, said he experienced a particularly dark period during his adolescence due to the too much, and sudden success obtained thanks to the saga based on the books by JK Rowling.
Within the autobiography Beyond the wand: The magic and mayhem of growing up a wizard, Felton opened up for the first time, talking about the problematic relationship with alcohol and the hospitalizations in rehab where, at his side, he has always been able to count on the support of friend Emma Watson.
“I went from not being involved in alcohol to daily drink a few pints, and even a few shots of whiskey to go with it all,” says Tom Felton in the book, where he also reveals how his addiction interfered with his career.
“My alcoholism has reached to the level where I consume even while working. I showed up on set unprepared. I was no longer the professional I wanted to be,” he said.
Although at first, the actor who plays Draco Malfoy in Harry Potter was not sure he wanted to include his problems with alcohol in the memoir, the actor admitted that he was encouraged by Watson to tell without restraint or fear.
“She gave me the strength to say: ‘This will help people, ‘” Tom Felton explained to USA Today who, with Emma Watson, is said to have had a secret relationship.
“It wouldn’t have been right to talk only about beautiful things. After her encouragement, I found the confidence to say, “You know what? It happened, and this is part of my life”, continued the actor, who now, after several hospitalizations, claims he is no longer afraid to say: “I’m not well.”
